About Michael Hilliard & the Working Class
“’Too old to rock and roll?’ I THINK $&#@ING NOT!”
That’s the battle cry of Michael Hilliard and the Working Class, three native sons of Rockland County whose shot-and-a-beer brand of original rock tunes wow crowds wherever they plug in and get down!
A few years back, Hilliard (guitar, vocals, songwriting) went searching for fellow musicians to bring his song demos to life. Bassist Robert Payes (whose college years were warped by a blend of gonzo prog-rock and four-on-the-floor punk anthems) was the first to answer the call.
Despite drummers coming and going – not to mention COVID shutting down the world – the band eventually masked up, recorded eight of Mike’s songs with veteran producer John Agnello (Thurston Moore, Dinosaur Jr.) for the NOTHING CHANGES album and filmed a music video for the song “Pour Me a Drink” in one of Hoboken’s finest pubs.
Now, with Corey Jenkins (like Hilliard, a Stony Point native) holding down the drum stool, the Working Class are ready to rock your socks off. Bottom’s up!
