We are pleased to welcome back Habitat for Humanity Rockland as our 2022 Charitable Recipient of the Year.
In 2021, we first connected with Habitat and its board to help produce a fundraiser video called “Raise the Roof”, an annual Gala. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Habitat needed to rely on video footage and Zoom meetings to produce the event. The YouTube video is included below:
Soon thereafter, Habitat was selected as our first-ever charitable recipient of the annual Stony Music Fest. The first year, we raised approximately $1500 for Habitat, and this year we plan to increase that number significantly.
Habitat for Humanity of Rockland is an independently operated affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International. Our mission is to work in partnership with thousands of Rockland County volunteers and qualified low income families of all races, religions, and creeds to build and renovate homes and provide financial education so that there is decent, safe, affordable housing where families can live and grow in a stable environment.
Over the years, Habitat of Rockland has worked to help families achieve their dreams of homeownership through our affordable homeownership program. To date, Habitat of Rockland has built 9 homes for low income families in our community. We are in the process of building our 10th home in the village of Hillburn, NY this year. Our goal is to build an average of 3 to 5 homes each year.
