Established 2015 in Stony Point, NY
The Stony Music Fest is an annual concert held in Rockland County, NY – with the express purpose of showcasing local musical talent for those that live and love the Hudson Valley.
We aim to provide a wide diversity of music, with quality sound, in a comfortable environment that can be enjoyed throughout the day’s festivities.
We are so excited to return for this annual concert, and hope you will join us for the festivities!
History of the Stony Music Fest
The first “festival” was in August of 2015. But at that time, it was less of a full-fledged festival, and more of a jam session amongst friends, at Charles C. Eccher (formerly named Lowland) Park in Stony Point.
One of the event’s founders, local entrepreneur Tom Ossa, explained the original idea to Rockland News in 2021:
“I didn’t expect it to grow and gain support like this. I just wanted to play music with my friends.”
Over the next few years, with a considerable amount of effort, Ossa and his friends organized more annual festivals at the same location. A few endured inclement weather or low attendance, but the group continued to hold events each year, in the interest of creating something lasting for the area. The festival remained in Eccher Park from 2015 to 2019.
In 2020 during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, the event was moved to Riverfront Park with the blessing of the Stony Point Town Board, and renamed “Stony Music Fest”. A limit of 50 guests were invited, and mask and distancing protocols were observed. The Town provided a stage for the event.
The event was once again held at Riverfront Park in 2021, along with a stage, and and all-star lineup of performers. In addition, an annual charitable recipient was added – Habitat for Humanity Rockland. The event raised several thousand dollars to help the organization continue to build homes for qualified low income families in Rockland, NY.
Our goal is to continue to provide quality events, with local bands each year. We plan to expand the festival to include an annual headliner act, and expand marketing efforts to attract quality tourism to ROCKLAND COUNTY, NY.
